| Wednesday, August 29, 2007 |
Lebanese signer Haifa Wehbe's latest video clip is under harsh criticism from fans all over the Arab world. The video clip for the song “Mosh Adra Astana” (I Can’t Wait), "keeps nothing to the imagination," according to several long time fans. In the first immediate scene of the film Haifa is filmed coming out of a swimming pool wearing a skimpy golden bikini. The director, Yahia Sada, has also been under fire for filming the singer the way he did. Many poses in the video cross censorship laws that are imposed on Arabian television. Some even consider it closer to porn then music video clips.
In addition to this critic of the video, the singer also managed to anger other types of fans. Some have said that the video clip was filmed in an old monastery and the background displays many crosses. Many fans are outraged that the singer used such symbolic icons in the video since it represents Christianity. Some even began to believe that it is a attack on Christian from Haifa since she of the Islamic faith.
Some hard-core fans of Haifa are worried that this video clip might be used in a case that is pending in the courts against her. The case is centered around a rumor that Haifa was in a porn film. Haifa blames singer Rola Saad for starting the rumor, because Haifa believes Rola wants to defame her name in the eyes of her fans.
