Many might be wondering, how do the Arab celebrities celebrate Ramadan? Some are offered spots to sing songs or recite prayers on television. Others try to keep a low profile during the holy moth. But here is what one singer is doing. The famous Egyptian singer Amr Diab is spending this Ramadan in Umra.
Diab received many offers to sing this month and the money they offered was more then his usual share. But Diab decided that no amount is worth the moments with his kids. Diab expressed that he wishes to spend this Ramadan with his family. He also mentioned that since he was not able to go to Hajj this year, that he is doing Umra of Ramadan instead. He goes on to say that he is planning on doing the ritual of Hajj in one of the coming years.
This year marked a change in Diab that many fans believe was due to the loss of three of his close friends. These friends used to work with Diab in preparing his music and concerts.
Many are speculating what the future holds for Diab. Some believe that he is changing and embracing Islam more since he lost his friends. Others feel it is just for the attention of the media and this phase will soon pass. They believe that Diab is trying to show a religious side this Ramadan to prove to the Arab people that he is one of them. Diab and his music has been under harsh criticism for some time due to some people believing that he imitates the west. Yet disspite what a few believe, his concerts and albums continue to sell at a decent level as compared to artists who have been around as long as he has.
